   I used to do ABS development in the UP.  The typical winter beater for   
   the locals, at least as of 10 years ago, was an old American sedan,   
   *not* a truck or SUV.  People had those, but generally only used them to   
   tow snowmobile trailers or other such like.

   My parents still have an old IH scout, but they haven't registered it in   
   10 years because it rusted out, and they've found that the old GTI that   
   I passed onto them with winter tires is more than adequate.
