You really don't know shit,do you?

The only national carbon cap-and-trade exchange in the United States is
shutting down because of Congressional inaction on limiting emissions,
   company officials say.

The Chicago Climate Exchange is a voluntary but legally binding greenhouse
gas emissions allowance trading system modeled after a federal
cap-and-trade program from the 1980s that successfully curbed emissions
   tied to acid rain.

Intercontinental Exchange will lay off the bulk of the Chicago Climate
Exchange’s employees over the next few months, he said, and will replace
the cap-and-trade system with a less ambitious registry program for carbon
   offsets next year.

Good. WTF good is a "Carbon Exchange", anyway?

Think about it, if you can: I own a company that employs 10,000 people and
emits 250,000 tons of carbon a year. I am allowed 175,000 tons, so I need
   to make up 75,000 tons.

You have a company selling Warm Fuzzies, and have 120,000 carbon credits,
and you only use 15,000 to cover the farts issued by your Vegan office
staff. So, I buy 75,000 credits from you, and you sell the rest to another
company also over it's carbon limit.

Tell me...how does that help the environment? The SAME AMOUNT of carbon is
   being emitted.

It was a dumb ass idea in the first place, and people are now just
catching on that is an Environmentally Friendly Ponzi scheme.
