   The burden of a house is its carrying cost; that is, interest, upkeep, and   
   taxes.  And depreciation, but in most markets historically houses don't   
   depreciate.  It's been a rough few years for real estate, of course.  Though if   
   you say people are losing money on parking spots in Manhattan, maybe   
   it's a good time to buy one; I'd love to get off the public transit   
   treadmill.  Of course there's still the bridges and tunnels to contend   
   with.
