You are confused, the world of economics is NOT finite.....

If you can grasp that in Roman times an ounce of gold got you a nice
suit of clothes, in the 1800's an ounce of gold got you a nice suit of
clothes and today an ounce of gold gets you a nice suit of clothes.

The difference is that we all live better today whether we can afford an
ounce of gold for a suit or NOT.... the poor no longer die from a
little cut and they eat well and watch TV, things that were maybe
   unimaginable in their time.

It's NOT as if poor people in America are living in MUD HUTS and cooking
   with animal dung.
