Studies have shown that red light cameras not only do NOT decrase the
running of red lights, but also makes it worse because people speed up
to try to avoid them, making wrecks worse.

It's why many states have stopped them. Income generators like speed
cameras (which also really do nothing except bring income to the
operating company and not so much the states) don't cause the same
safety issues as red light cameras so they're more likely to stay
   around.

Soon, we'll all have to carry one of those little snapshot things like
Progressive insurance is touting. Keeps track of your driving habits.

People who think RL cameras are meaningful, are the same time that
will think it's ok to force people to use these little privacy
   invaders.

Speed is seldom the cause of an accident and only a contributing
factor in less than half. It is, however, a money generator.
