Crisis of this magnitude?? That's rich!

In the early 1970's, the Canadian Coast Guard observed a
polar bear (Thalarctos maritimus) swim 200 miles. This
was the record until this year. This past summer a polar
bear fitted with a radio collar swam over 400 miles. This
would be same as putting the bear in Lake Erie, at
Buffalo N.Y, and having it swim the the length of Lake
Erie to Detroit Mich., and then having it turn around
and swim back down the lake to Cleveland Ohio.

Because a polar bear doesn't look like a fish, Al Gore
(with his one dimensional thinking) *concluded* polar
   bears couldn't swim!
