   I don't follow Ranma enough to comment, but I think it's pretty clear   
   that, over time, Goku is exactly smart enough as a fighter as he needs   
   to be.  His freakishly awesome power levels mean that he can usually   
   overpower his foes, but when he can't, he'll keep trying (and more   
   importantly, he'll stay alive-- usually, at least) long enough to beat   
   them.
