   I would be interested to know how the script writing for the dub was   
   done.  It seems impossible to me that the dub scripts were the result   
   of a careful translation process followed by concious changes to the   
   script -- it's more like the writers just had a summary of the episode   
   and had to invent the dialogue based on the summary (and weren't   
   actually "translating" it).   
      
   It could also be a lack of Japanese knowledge, which is sometimes   
   encountered in fansubs (for instance, the early Studio Chikashitsu   
   fansubs of SM season 1 have as many changed/made-up lines as the DiC   
   dub, although to their credit it improves a lot later).   
      
   But you are probably right -- it reminds me of the change that made   
   Amara and Michelle cousins in the SMS dub.  Whoever did that probably   
   thought it was a good change based on limited knowledge of the series,   
   and it would have worked except for Episode 106.
