Likewise for me. This is one aspect of the DiC dub that I considered
brilliant. I watched both the original and the dubbed back to back and
the dub moved me much more thanks to that musical number.

Of course, on the flip side, in the traditional NA fashion, they must
jam dialog into every conceivable spot and so spoiled the mood by
having Usagi/Serena speak some vapid thought at the end about her
   being the princess.

There was a hint, and just a hint, that they were coming to think
differently about each other in the artist episode. Also keep in mind
that a re-occurring theme in anime in general is that when two people
argue with each other, it is a sign of a deeply concealed fondness
   each for the other.

That doesn't change the fact that Mamoru does not openly show his love
often. Perhaps that is to provide a foil, a contrast, to Usagi's own
unconditional love for the whole world and each creature on it.

BTW, Greetings all, I'm back from Anime Expo and ready to delve back
into the goodness that is Sailor Moon. Please look for my
convention/cosplay report in about two weeks.
