|    200 Days of Sailor Moon - Episode 42    |

From: chriskern99@gmail.com              Episode 42 - Sailor Venus' past, Minako's spurned love              This is another episode that was cut from the dub. Like the other cut       episodes, nobody knows for sure why this one was cut. My personal       feeling is that unlike the other episodes, which I think were       primarily cut for time (or to get the other senshi introduced       earlier), there must have been something in this episode that bothered       DiC -- simply because it comes so late in the series, contains plot       developments, and provides the only glimpses of Venus' past and Sailor       V in all 200 episodes. Possibilities that have been offered include a       criminal throwing a grenade at Sailor V, Sailor Moon wanting to kill       the youma rather than healing it, and the relatively scanty outfit       (nothing compared to some of the S daimon, but for the first season       it's pretty scantily clad) of the youma.              But the plot developments ignored here make some oddities later in the       series; when I watched the dub I could never understand why Sailor       Moon was able to heal Mamoru the first time, but when she tried it the       next time it didn't work. Also they start searching for the Dark       Kingdom entrance here, whereas in the dub it just seems like the       answer suddenly materializes out of nowhere.              The end of the episode is pretty sad, with Minako's "sore de ii no..."       echoing as her picture flies into the wind.              Namba Keiichi, who played Alan in this episode, is also Umino and       Zoicite's voice actor.              -Chris              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
