   Episode 45 - The Sailor Senshi die! The tragic final battle   
      
   The beginning scene with usagi cooking for her family is good; sort of   
   the last comic moment of the series.   
      
   This episode is extraordinarily violent even for a Japanese children's   
   show. Sailor Moon is not the first kids' show to kill off most or all   
   of the protagonists in the final episodes, but it's not very common.   
   Despite this, I have never been particularly affected by this episode,   
   with the exception of the final scene where the ghosts of the senshi   
   come to encourage Usagi. But somehow the deaths of the senshi aren't   
   that emotional to me -- perhaps because once you know what's going to   
   happen it becomes almost formulaic, and perhaps the knowledge that   
   they're not dead for good blunts the effect as well.   
      
   Tomorrow is the final episode of the first season.   
      
   Notice that Ami wasn't really affected by the illusion of Urawa.  Now,   
   if it had been an illusion of Makoto... :)
