A new rebirth       >              Usagi is a coward no longer, she walks right up to the crater,       determined to face what’s before her.              Rather than trying to fight her at a distance, Beryl draws her in for a       confrontation. Either she’s so overconfident that she’s unafraid of the       Princess, or she’s just aching for the chance to see this girl’s defeat       in person, particularly at the hands of HER Endymion.              Again, how come, the moment someone goes evil, they gain tremendous       fighting power? Dark Endymion had all sorts of powers at his disposal,       and he really went after Sailor Moon.              Beryl chose the wrong words. By reminding her that if she lost, her       friends died for nothing, she finally gave Usagi the strength to really       fight back. Otherwise, she’d have probably just kept trying to heal him       until he killed her. Isn’t that one of those rules of Evil Overlords?       “I will wait another thirty seconds and gloat over the dead body of my       fated foe, rather than doing it while she is still alive. The dead       version is never inspired to one last effort to defy me.”              Mamoru’s last scenes were a lot better than I remembered. It wasn’t       sappy, it was sweet and sad all at once, and far more reminiscent of       Usagi and Mamoru than Serenity and Endymion, which I really liked. And       after he was gone, keeping herself from kissing him, because it wouldn’t       have been fair to the other four… That one just about got me.              And again, she walks right into danger, without flinching or complaining.              Carry On was better, but Moonlight Densetsu wasn’t as bad as I       remembered, and it did work pretty well for the scene.              And then, in the end, as their bodies are consumed by the power of the       crystal, there is one final wish. The girl who dreamed of being a       superhero, and a princess, and all the rest… just wants to be normal again.              There’s plenty of argument about just what happened next. Clearly, the       girls all forgot everything about being Sailor Senshi, and each other.       The big kicker that throws me off is that in the next episode, Usagi       again identifies herself as 14 years old. If you’ve been following the       passing of seasons though, it seems pretty clear that a summer has       passed since Episode 1, so she SHOULD be 15, right? That implies that       everyone was set back to where they were when this started, except that       everyone, including Minako are together in Tokyo. Why this happened? I       think, deep down, Usagi didn’t really want to let them go. Of course,       trying to explain *how* it happened is just about impossible, but the       Silver Crystal is all about doing the impossible, so I’m not going to       hurt my brain too much trying to work out the details. Although I can       see an omake of Sailor Pluto spending the next two months running around       stomping out all the little problems it has created. ^_^;              Luna and Artemis remember everything, and while Luna is sad that the       girls are alone again, Artemis knows that they’ll find their way back to       each other, somehow.              SK              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
