A Sailor Warrior once again       >              A local TV studio is auditioning girls for a small part in a drama. The       five candidates invited to audition, Naru, Ami, Rei, Makoto and Minako.        Contrived? You betcha, but we needed to get everyone back together,       and they didn’t want to take too many episodes to do it, so it’s all       good. Might have been an interesting way to fill time in a largely do       nothing arc, though, watching each one reawakened and reacting to the       restored memories and the absence of the ones who still don’t remember.              Both Usagi and Luna are quite reluctant to pull the girls back into       this. I think they’re both going off of Usagi’s reaction to her own       awakening and assuming that the others also want their second chance at       a normal life.              Which they probably do, but on the other hand, those girls lost a lot       more than just their powers and responsibilities, they lost each other,       and two months into their second chances, it still looks like they’re       all pretty much alone.              It’s tough to say what would have been crueler, forcing them to take up       their duties and risk their lives again, or denying them the friendships       they’d forged. Sometimes there isn’t a good answer, just a necessary       one. Through plot contrivance and monster attack, all four Senshi are       recalled to duty.              None of them express regret the way Usagi did. Of course, she was       coming back alone, and while she was reluctant at first, now that the       others are back, she’s very happy to be back with them all.              Side note – What does Naru actually remember? You assume that if the       girls forgot season 1, then so did everyone else, but she made a clear       reference to the many strange occurrences around her, when there’s only       been once since Usagi’s wish. Does she remember Nephrite and the rest?              Then again, I’ve never known just how much Naru knows. She was       obviously angling to have Usagi come with her, not my first choice for       someone to make me feel safe. Usagi on a production lot is a disaster       looking for a place to happen, but Naru is clearly waiting for the       offer, and quite relieved when it comes.              It goes back to the discussion as to what happened at the end of season       1. Clearly, the Senshi had their memories altered. I don’t think       Minako even remembers being Sailor V anymore. Usagi wanted them to have       normal lives, so that’s what they’ve got. That’s probably why Artemis       is always over at Usagi’s in these first few episodes, he can’t talk       around Minako anymore. However, Naru does seem to remember being the       Youma Duracell, and as Sunnie reminded me, in a few episodes you see       that the people in general remember Sailor Moon a bit more than you’d       expect for having been involved in just a few minor incidents. It       would be possible to give the girls a new life just by taking *their*       memories, since no one else really knows who they are (with a few minor       exceptions who have been written out of the story anyway). They may       even be among those trying to figure out just who these mysterious       figures were, not quite sure why the question is so intriguing.              I’d leave it at that, except for Usagi’s declaration that she was 14       years old at the start of R. It just makes no sense unless time has       been messed with a bit.              The Silver Crystal is a very strange thing. Don’t give it imprecise       instructions, or you’re going to get weird results. ^_^;              And I'll just leave it at that, for now. This makes my brain hurt.              SK              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
