Heh, those were my own thoughts exactly. ^_^

   >at the end, when she calls on her Dragon to protect Usagi and Ami.

That was a pretty deep observation on Mako's part. It's a shame the
   dub wiped that all out.

   >I’m confused. Ail arrives on Earth and that very day starts referencing

I think the goal of this episode was to show that the aliens don't eat
at all, they are completely unfamiliar with the concept. All their
   nutrition comes from the tree.

   >Ami’s reaction to Makoto’s latest crush is interesting. She

Some very good observations here, SK. And of course she tags along. If
this sub-story is right, I imagine Ami is quite curious about how far
   the date went. ^_^

   >Minako and Rei were almost written out of the episode completely. They

   >Beam Shower, and Rei got to ‘rescue’ Usagi and Ami in one last bit of
   >slapstick.

Ouch!! They really got well fried. Good thing they landed in water.
However, I see that Usagi freshened up quite nicely in time for her
   signature attack ^_-

   >Ami-chan wishes I’d quit using the word ‘slapstick’ to describe this

Yes sir, that looked like it royally hurt there.
