   I would like to think Sunnie's theory is the right one, that he said   
   what he said so that even if they are separated forever, Usagi will   
   focus on becoming stronger which would not be a bad thing. And Usagi   
   does take it that way. The dub changed his line to something   
   innocuous, but Serena still said she would strive to become a stronger   
   person at the end.
