Goodbye, Ami              Ami has been offered a chance to study in Germany, at what we assume to       be a very prestigious academy for those interested in medicine.       Meanwhile, Chibi-Usa has locked onto her as possibly being the one       hiding the Silver Crystal. Ami instead introduces her to the joys of       obsessive studying at late hours… either that or she’s figured out the       ulterior motive and is just going to wear her out with books. ^_^ The       conversation kinda implies the second.              Aa everyone noticed, the cats casually produce a new set of       communicators and wands without any explanation. What, were they       waiting for a special occasion?              Anyway, through this all, I never got the sense that Ami really made a       decision, until the end. She said it herself, she can be very       indecisive, and she’s showing it in full force here. Everyone is       telling her that they think she should go, that they’ve got high       expectations for her, so she’s going. It’s very hard to be talented,       sometimes, especially for someone like Ami, who so keenly feels the       pressure of her friends' and family's expectations. When she’s talking       about her dream in the beginning, there’s very much a bittersweet tone       to it. This is what she’s been chasing most of her life, and now that       it’s there for the taking, she’s not really sure if it’ll make her       happy. But even when her heart was telling her otherwise, she still was       willing to go because it’s what she thought everyone expected of her.       It wasn’t until the very end that she finally asked herself what she       really felt about it all.              Like Sunnie said, Makoto is the one who knows what Ami’s dream is, and       her distant look when talking about Ami’s impending departure is very       reminiscent of when she’s talking about a boy who’s out of reach. One       wonders if the prospect of losing her partner is a bit of an eye-opening       experience for Makoto.              SK              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
