After what appears to be a nanny       scolds Chibi-Usa for being clumsy, she goes to the Silver Crystal,       hoping that just holding it will make her more ladylike. Yeah, it’s       stupid, but she’s a kid. When she touches it though, it vanishes, and       in that moment, the Black Moon attacks. Serenity falls, Endymion is       wounded, and the city is smashed. Chibi-Usa blocks out the memory,       because she can’t handle her own belief that she is to blame for the crisis.              When she wanders outside the safeguards of the Palace (seriously, a       leash, maybe?), Wiseman catches her and exposes her secret, then takes       her away, promising to help her prove her innocence to the people he’s       helped convince her are going to blame her.              If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Why did they go from Usagi keeping the       Silver Crystal on her at all times, to putting it on an isolated,       unguarded pedestal easily accessible by a small child? Yeah, there was       some sort of security system, but still… If it was the most powerful       magical item in the world, and I was responsible for keeping it safe,       I’d probably invest in a watchman. I can see why there was a way for       Chibi-Usa to access the crystal, as a last-resort emergency measure if       something terrible happened to the Queen, but again, if that particular       key was used, I’d at least set it to trigger a warning for the grownups.              Esmeraude’s deal with Wiseman kinda summarizes the entire Black Moon’s       predicament. They know they can’t trust him, but they can’t do what       they’re doing without him, so they have to keep risking it and hope he       doesn’t pull the rug out from under them. For Esmeraude, though, her       time is up. She at least gets to go out with some flair as the giant       dragon. I think this is the first person to die from one of Usagi’s       attacks since Beryl, and only the second overall (Kunzite died of his       own powers). True, there probably wasn’t any saving her at this point,       but still, it doesn’t happen often, so it’s worth noting.              We get some idea of time’s progression here. Saphir talks about their       people’s ancestors, who were forced to leave the Earth. That sort of       implies at least a few generations have passed since the rebellion that       led to the Nemesis exile, yet the Senshi and Royalty of Crystal Tokyo       seem to have hardly aged a day.              SK              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
