   Episode 115 - Shadow of Silence!? The dimming light of the firefly   
      
   Like I said, these Hotaru/Chibi-Usa episodes seem nice on the surface   
   but they have a really dark undercurrent. This episode is one of my   
   favorites of the season.   
      
   When they went to Ami's mother's hospital it reminded me that as of   
   yet, the series has revealed surprisingly little about the families of   
   anyone besides Usagi. All we know is that Ami's mother is a doctor,   
   Makoto lives alone (for an unspecified reason), and Rei lives with her   
   grandfather. I don't remember much more than that being revealed later   
   -- I vaguely remember an episode from SuperS where Ami talks to her   
   dad on the phone.   
      
   If that flashback is accurate and Kaolinite was around when Hotaru was   
   a little girl, why did the Death Busters wait so long to start getting   
   pure hearts? That's a long time for Hotaru to be abused at home,   
   though.   
      
   Utomodachi is one of the strangest daimon of the series. I especially   
   like when Mimete leaves her alone and she starts crying and then runs   
   away.   
      
   Of course, the other notable thing about this episode is the single   
   example in the entire 200 episodes of a detransformation (which the   
   dub had to cut because you see Haruka's butt).
