   That does seem odd that they would keep this same old pattern. As you   
   said, there was plenty of opportunity to spread out the storyline.

   I believe that it is a plot point, something in the nature of Peter   
   Pan.   
      
   BTW, notice that all the girls had "heart eyes" when they were looking   
   at the kindergarten principal, except for Ami. The dub was quite good,   
   they even kept Mina/Minako's comment about having enough children to   
   field a baseball team.
