From: chriskern99@gmail.com              Well, that's the end. It was enjoyable watching them all back to       back. I wish I could have done this a few years ago when there was       still a fair amount of traffic on the group, but it was enjoyable even       with just the small number of responders.              At the beginning of the series I said that my preference for the       seasons went Stars>S>Classic>SuperS>R. I was curious if this ordering       would change in this viewing, and it definitely did. I would now say       that the ordering goes Stars>S>Supers=R>Classic (a tie between SS and       R, in other words).              Classic was a lot worse than I remembered it; a lot of filler and a       lot of substandard filler. R was a lot better -- no doubt because I       watched it in the original language this time and all the episodes at       once. The others were about the same although I used to think that S       was a very close second to Stars, but after this viewing I'm convinced       that Stars is markedly superior to S. This is particularly evident in       the conclusion, which I think far exceeds any of the other conclusions       in its expressive power and emotional impact (yes, even S).              If I had to pick a favorite episode off the top of my head it would       probably be either 200 or 125. If I had to pick a least favorite       episode it would either be 67 (the dinosaur episode) or the R filler       with Rei's grampa running the gym.              I still haven't watched the movies and specials. I'm pretty tired of       Sailor Moon at this point so I'm not going to do that immediately, but       once I get back from break I might consider it. I'm also considering       doing this with a few other series -- Utena and Monster are the two       that are foremost in my mind for candidates.              By the way, if anyone actually goes this far, I recommend watching the       first episode or two of the series after the end of Stars. It's       really striking how much of a difference there is in tone (and in       Usagi) between the end of the series and the beginning.              -Chris              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
