So you were thinking that about the candy too, eh? I guess deep down,
she knew her audience. Plus, she probably figured that was the only way
she could drag Usagi in there day after day. ^_-

The first time I watched this episode (last year), I'm not sure I
   noticed the disappearing doorway.

I've noticed its use in a few different anime, and I know I've heard
they're a lot more prevelant over there. Don't most singles come in
mini-disc form? I know quite a few of the Japanese CDs I've purchased
come with additional mini-discs in addition to the CDs.

Who could blame her, really? It was very clear she was being used by so
many people, like the girls who surrounded her when they were looking at
the test results. When Usagi suddenly started spouting something like
that it probably did seem very much like she was only becoming her
friend for that reason. Moreover, a reason that she was really
powerless about, much like her mother's position as a prominent doctor.

The first time I watched this episode, I think I cried. I nearly did
this time too. Her joy about having a friend, actually taking efforts
to provide a treat to share, her excitement about not eating alone...all
dashed. I could feel that. I think episode 4 is the next Ami episode,
and I *know* I bawled through that one. While the acting is often not
that great, they really do get down to the emotion, and I feel a great
empathy and sympathy for Ami's character in these episodes. *sniffle*
Getting a little sniffly just thinking about her.

You know, I found that quite interesting myself. I mean, that's not
exactly normal. Perhaps Ami-chan is just a bit gullible?

   I adore Ikuko-mama in this series. ^_^v

There was one thing that really stood out to me in this episode, and
that was when the instructor of the seminar asked Ami why she wanted to
be a doctor, and she basically said it was her mother's idea, and she
just wanted to make her mom happy. It makes her life seem even colder,
especially when she goes on to say she's just good at studying (wait,
was that at that moment, or another moment...regardless, she said it).
It was kind of in contrast to what at least seemed to be an actual
desire (of her own) to become a doctor in the anime. Hopefully, though,
this was just a knee jerk reaction after having a bad day at school
(with the I'm only good at school type comment having reference to the
fact that she can't make real friends) and that she truly wants to be a
doctor for her own sake too, not just her mother's.
