|    51 Days of PGSM - Act 8    |

From: phoenix@mediaone.net              Act 8 - Rei and Her Father              The heart of this episode is a conflict between Rei and Makoto on how       much should they indulge Usagi's whims. Usagi has called the girls       together to ask their help to both complete her school workbook and to       complete a costume to enter a look-alike cosplay contest based on       Minako's mascot, Nako Nako.              Makoto is agreeable to helping out, but Rei is firm in her belief that       Usagi should do this completely on her own as that would make her a       stronger person. This results in a major argument between the two       girls. Ami stays out of the whole thing, saying she needed to research       Sailor V. Usagi tells everyone to please not argue, that she will do       the work herself.              Mako goes to the Hikawa Shrine to hang a Shinto wish plaque for Usagi       to win the costume contest when she overhears a phone conversation       from Rei about it being too late to have a parent-child relationship       with "him". The two of them continue their argument and Mako walks       away without hanging the plaque.              Usagi finally finishes her workbook and continues work on her costume.       While Usagi goes to the contest, Mako returns to the shrine to hang       the plaque. She witnesses what appears to be an abduction as Rei is       forced into a car which drives off.              Meanwhile, Jadeite has enlisted Zoisite's help to find Sailor Moon. By       way of playing the piano, Zoisite projects Jadeite to Usagi's location       at the contest.              Mako catches up to Rei at a hotel. She takes out the two burly       bodyguards blocking the door to Rei's room and makes her way inside       (Have I mentioned that you should never be on the receiving end of       Mako's ire?)              Once Rei sees how concerned Mako is for her safety, they reconcile       their differences and make up. We find out that Rei has been coerced       into meeting her father (a politician) for a once a month luncheon.       Rei hates her father since he has left her completely on her own. She       says that his only goal in meeting with her is to further his       political goals by portraying himself as a loving father.              Mako helps Rei escape from the hotel and the girls horseplay a bit as       Mako pushes Rei thought the hotel on a luggage cart. Mako spills her       purse and Rei teases her about all the cute items in it. Their cell       phones ring and Luna tells them that Usagi is in trouble at the       contest.              Jadeite has knocked out Sailor Moon, who is exhausted from her       all-night homework/cosplay marathon. Before he can finish, he is       stopped by Sailor Jupiter and Mars who take him on in another bout of       ballet-fu. Jupiter uses a new attack, Flower Hurricane combined with       Mars' Akuryo Taisan against Jadeite. However, he absorbs their attack       and is about to return it ten-fold when he collapses in pain and is       suddenly returned to Zoisite.              Since Usagi is completely out of the contest due to her exhaustion,       Mako and Rei both enter the contest in her place to win this Minako       signed Nako Nako toy for her. Rei was quite scary at first (acting       cute is _not_ her forte ^_^) but recovers and manages to strike a few       very out of character cute poses. NTL, the girls do not win and they       pledge to not tell Usagi of their failure (Which is a shame. Usagi       should know that they cared that much about her).              In the end, both girls were right in their own way. Usagi should       finish her workbook on her own, which she did, but it was perfectly       fine to help her with the contest, which they did.              By now, as Sunnie-chan pointed out, both Rei and Mako are calling       Usagi by her personal name only indicating a very close relationship.              Some side notes:       Despite the name of the episode, Rei's father does not make an       appearance. Also, there are now five chairs in the secret base, four       chairs color coded for the four senshi and one white one. Motoki is       getting _way_ too attached to that turtle.              --       Phoenix       www.phoenixanime.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
