It seems fine enough if people would use it, which goes right to the
heart of your comment about obscurity. When I say it can't hold its
own, it is largely because of web-based forums that integrate avatars,
signatures, titles, embedded images/sounds/videos etc. On a web-based
forum, I wouldn't need to post links to my pictures; I could just embed
them. As it is, I'll need to set up some sort of quickie html page and
link it here. That seems rather inconvienent now. In the 90s, back when
this list was in its heyday, sure, that made sense, but now... And so
people don't come. And that means that the obscurity is the problem!

Disappeared entirely compared to who I know has moved elsewhere. I saw
Phoenix about a year ago in person. I know than Ian, Lauren, KitKat,
and Taiki are still on the #afsm IRC channel. Scortia is still active
in various anime-sub cultures like cosplaying. She's visible enough
online to keep track of. And the #fanfics crew is still as active as
ever, although none of these people have actually posted in a long time
as far as I can tell.

If there was a mass migration somewhere, I missed it.
