   Most of the knights from medieval times weren't poor either.   
      
   The Sith are greedy baddies, so they no doubt steal and con their way to   
   wealth and power.   
      
   The Jedi don't have money indivdually, but as a group they probably get   
   their money in various ways, including payment from those they help (e.g.   
   the Senate or Naboo probably paid for Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon to be negotiators   
   for in Episode I) as well as via donations , etc.
