   Who says none of the Imperial troops tried to intervene. We didn't see the   
   entire journey on-screen, so troops could well have tried to stop / help   
   Luke and either Luke defeated them or Vader told them to go away.   
      
   Besides, what low-level trooper is going to interfere with anything to do   
   with Vader?
