That was ESB, though. I'm suggesting that he changed his mind
about the "droids are immune to blasters" thing after the first movie.

Problem is, he changes his mind about a LOT of things. And messes up what
came before in the process a lot of times ("......What I said IS true...from
   a certain point of view......").

In any real world, droids don't go from being immune in one moment, to NOT
being immune in a LATER moment (if ANYTHING, I would think they would have
MORE immunity from blaster fire later on as technology advances). Besides,
I really don't think Lucas thought about everything to the point where he
said, (ANH) "3PO and R2 don't get damaged by weapons fire that's passing by
them so close that it's INEVITABLE some of it must hit them, because they
are immune to blaster fire" (EMPIRE) "I've changed my mind. Droids ARE
able to be 'injured' by blaster fire AFTER all". I doubt he thought every
little tiny aspect out in that much detail.

It has just always driven me up a wall that blaster fire is whizzing so
close to them constantly, while they are slowly moving across an open hall
saturated with hostile fire from both sides, yet they make it across in
perfect safety, unharmed & untouched in any way, as if they were crossing
any empty hallway casually, yet the same blaster fire that misses them in
every instance takes out rebel and Imp alike, though much of it passes
inches from them (3PO & R2-and since they are MOVING, they are actually much
MORE likely to get hit, then if they had just stayed off on the side and hid
   themselves).
