   Droids were never "immune" to blaster fire ... Artoo got hit in the trench   
   run, and by the Jawa stun blaster, etc.   
      
   The armed troops would have been aiming at the other armed troops, not two   
   unarmed droids. The droids might have been hit by accident (and agin might   
   not), but not on purpose.   
      
   Besides, you see the same thing in numerous movies where the good guys run   
   across open ground and never get hit.
