   The same reason there are numerous churches, stores selling "healing   
   crystals", and conmen providing "electromagnetic field balancing" (as   
   well as little grey aliens, Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Government   
   conspiracy, etc., etc.) ... because far far too many people are stupid   
   enough to actually believe all these religious / quasi-medical /   
   conspiracy garbage piles are real thanks to being weak-minded,   
   easily-conned, and requiring some sort of mental crutch to keep   
   themselves happy, and being scared witless about dying and ceasing to   
   exist.
