   Darth Maul was rescued from the pit (after Obi-Wan bisected him) and   
   given a robotic lower half by Mother Talzin on Dathomir.

   All rather silly really and basically done because too many people   
   thought Maul was a great character who was underused, so someone   
   decided to stupidly bring him back from the dead rather than simply   
   write pre-Episode I stories. :-\
