   There are archives going back before DejaNews, from the University of Toronto.   
   The computer science guys there saved alot of stuff on tape. Google has them   
   now online. While as they are incomplete, they do cover the skating groups   
   pretty well from that era.   
      
   If this flamewar was really as big as you say, it is inconceivable that at   
   least SOME posts from it would not have survived.
