   That bothered me as well. I think it was intended to serve the   
   purpose of giving people who had not read the book a reason to believe   
   that Sauron thought the ring was going to Minas Tirith.

   I confess I have not seen him in very many things. He is one of very   
   few decent characters amongst a huge bunch of nasty people in GOT (one   
   of the reasons I'm getting tired of it -- most of the cast could die   
   horribly and you wouldn't care) and I do not consider his Boromir a   
   villain. Far from it.
