      I notice that of the five instruments the (chaste) sextant is the most   
   old-fashioned one, and least needed in modern life.  I certainly have a   
   compass, a flashlight, a pen knife of sorts and a canteen of sorts in the   
   house.  And of the five instruments it is the chaste sextant I have the   
   least use for.  The other four are of good use to me. :-)
