Deciding to pay money to go and watch the film is also a kind of
   judgement, I'd say . . .

It's an early judgement, certainly, one based on insufficient
knowledge (isn't that what is actually implied by the word
/prejudice/ -- prior judgement?), but, I would say, a judgement
   nonetheless.

I do think this is what Rateliff meant -- that trailer are there for
people to judge how likely they are to like or dislike films by:
that, at least, was how I understood his statement. Apart from this
judgement (which I see as the basis for the decision whether or not
to spend one's time and money on watching the film), you can use the
trailer to make some educated guesses (which is how my various
comments were intended), but final, or detailed, judgment must, of
course, wait until one knows the final product.

Possible, yes -- it is certainly possible, but I don't think it is
very likely (I /did/ put it in probabilistic terms) ;)
