   I'm not sure I'd go quite that far, but something like that ;-)   
      
   Certainly it is different enough that I don't really care about the   
   story and the characters as if they were Tolkien's (you might say   
   that it is a praise for Jackson's LotR trilogy that they were close   
   enough that I couldn't help care for the story and the characters as   
   if they were Tolkien's -- though given what that caring led me to, it   
   can be argued that this is "damning with faint praise" :-D )
