   Well... I can think of ONE.   
      
   Looking at the textual history it is clear that Balrogs did not have wings   
   right through the first version of the bridge scene (where the shadow of the   
   Balrog split like two vast wings around GANDALF). After that it is uncertain.   
   My personal theory is    
   that Tolkien liked the concept of a winged Balrog enough to imply it, but   
   avoided stating it explicitly so that he wouldn't have to revise the history   
   to make it fit.
