XPost: rec.arts.sf.written, alt.alien.vampire.flonk.flonk.flonk       From: mimus99@gmail.com              Dear Professor Tolkien:              We have read your novel with great interest.              It seems to us a very good fantasy adventure, and we have no difficulty in       accepting it for publication.              Our first reader suggested, and we do not disagree, that having the Council       of Elrond summon Gwaihir and the other eagles to Rivendell, from thence to       carry the Ring to Mount Doom, in your chapter 'Windlords to Mount Doom',       seems a little 'pat'.              Would it not make for an even better, if longer, novel to have the       Halflings continue as they have begun, to carry the Ring to Mount Doom,       where then, perhaps, the eagles could rescue them from the catastrophe?              This would also of course allow you more scope to develop more fully your       fascinating hints of geography and history.              It would, however, call for change to and delay in working in your final       chapters 'The Defenestration of Saruman', 'A Longer-Awaited Party', 'The       Elopement of Aragorn and Arwen' and 'Home Again'.              Please inform us what you think of this.              Respectfully,              Squiggle              Allen & Unwin              --              Time for some brandy in your tea.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
