And I have this queasy feeling that these       wrong versions are the ones that will establish themselves in the popular       culture.              For instance in Bakshi's version, Sauron learns the art of Ring making       from the elves. How utterly wrong is that!?!? This seemingly trivial       inversion violates the author's carefully crafted universe on so many levels       that I can't begin to count them.              And then there's the PJV (Peter Jackson Version)              [Rant Mode upgraded to /EXTREME]              Faramir *DOES NOT* take Frodo and Sam to Osgiliath. He is a man of honor       in a very deep sense; that is, he firmly believes that the Universe will       unfold in the optimal way if each person behaves with absolute honor.              Of course some decisions are more critical than others. And learning that       a Hobbit in his custody has the Dark Lord's Ring of Power puts Faramir       in an extremely critical position. The fate of Middle Earth and everyone       in it depends on whether he does the right thing or not.              PJ manages to obscure this vital point with some entertaining but       very distracting theatrics but.... my Fuming Outrage Energy       Reserve is close to exhaustion.              Rant Mode /off              Enjoy your day, SPQ              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
