   You're thinking about Admiral "It's a trap!" Ackbar, who shot down the   
   Executor who crashed into the death star in Return of the Jedi. He was   
   neither in A New Hope nor in Rogue One. In Rogue One the Calamari fleet is   
   commanded by Admiral Raddus, also a Mon Calamari so there is a resemblance.

   It is not used in ANH. In ANH, the squadrons attacking the death star are   
   Red, Green and Gold. There is a roll call where you hear them say "Red   
   leader standing by..." etc to verify.

   Indeed. The scene after Han finds and saves Luke is the first time we see   
   Rogue Squadron, out searching for them in Snow Speeders on Hoth.
