   Madelyn Marie O'Hair was a social worker who got complaints about lunacy that   
   was really about religiosity and tried and succeeded in helping them simply to   
   ease her case load and prevent them from being mistaken for insane people who   
   needed psychiatric    
   treatment. She became an atheist activist because religion has a habit of   
   mimicking the insane without the presence of true insanity and was also being   
   actively promoted by the government for the general populace to partake   
   thereof.
