For many reasons that this Democrat leadership never addressed. For
instance, unlike Canada, we have ambulance chasers trying to make a buck
at every turn. These lawsuits cost doctors up to $300,000 per year for
malpractice insurance. Doctors have opted to use "defensive medicine"
which is estimated to cost American consumers over 100 billion dollars
per year; the same amount of money Osama wants to steal from the rich to
provide unproductive citizens with equal healthcare.

So what is defensive medicine? Defensive medicine is where a doctor
runs you through every possible test to insure him or herself from a
possible lawsuit. Years ago, you went to your doctor because your ear
hurt. The doctor would examine you and send you on your way with
medication or suggested further analysis. Today, your doctor sends you
to a specialist because he wants to pass off the possible liability to
the specialist. In many cases, you now have to see three or four
doctors before your ailment is remedied unlike years ago where you only
   had to see one.

Unions throughout the years played a part as well. People who would
screw bolts into an engine block, or delivered packages for UPS made
just as much as an RN and close to the salary of a pharmacist. Younger
people realized what a bad investment it was to educate themselves in a
medical career. They saved themselves hundreds of thousands of dollars
by taking a union job instead. So how do we attract people to the
medical profession? We had to start paying them much more than these
   $55,000 per year union jobs.

Then we have various factors such as state mandates on minimal
insurance. State regulations that prohibit competition. These states
require that only insurance companies who have offices in their state be
allowed to offer insurance. Less competition--higher price. Medicare
and Medicaid only pay part of the bill for their patients. In order for
doctors and hospitals to recover the losses on these patients, they
increase the price of patients with private insurance which increases
the premium on all of us.

I can go on and on, but the bottom line is that our healthcare is so
expensive because of government. So what did this administration do???
   They inserted even more government.

Texas passed tort reform in their state. Doctors are flooding the area
to practice medicine there. In fact, doctors are increasing larger by
percentage than the actual population in Texas. But this administration
refuses to look at cost cutting factors, and instead, use this as an
opportunity to have more government control.
