   This might be extending the metaphor a little too much. I don't know   
   quite how the concept of 'alone' applies in a newsgroup. I do understand   
   emotional support et cetera, but it's application over a distributed   
   network is questionable. Besides, there is, in my opinion, plenty of   
   evidence of both sides being able to defend themselves/their positions   
   adequately (and *voluminously*)
