   And yet ... in many places throughout the world we use what "most   
   people" decide to our fate.  It's called democracy.  Funny how   
   electoral votes can be good, but platform votes can be bad.   
      
   (I do understand that consumption allows personal choice, and that   
   we don't need to wait for a national vote to see what platform we   
   all get - but just the same, I'm not sure we should disrespect the   
   mandate when we find it inconvenient.)
