   That's a very accurate example since aspirin only treats symptoms and   
   not the problem and cough syrup (usually doesnt do anything as most   
   studies have shown) and  in many cases does more harm then good. Why not   
   then take morphine for chronic pain without even attempting to determine   
   the underlying cause of the pain?  That's what many doctors and   
   psychiatrists are doing  thanks to our culture where we want a quick fix   
   or magic pill that will make our symptoms go away...so if we are all too   
   drugged up to know any better and what the real effects (side-effects)   
   they have we will continue to be a burden on our health care system.   
      
   BTW, a lot of people have resorted to drinking and taking street drugs   
   to making their symptoms of their problems go away [temporarily] but as   
   long as you continue to drink or take the drugs the symptoms may be   
   surpressed buit you will never be any closer to finding the root cause   
   of the problem.
