   Wicca is a crock of shit.  From what I can tell, it was invented in the   
   late 19th century as a sort of role-playing game where participants   
   pretended they were the pagans of early Europe.  There is a strong   
   element of masochism in that the Wiccans enjoy pretending that they   
   are the "witches" the xian church burned at the stake centuries ago,   
   and they get a sense of collective persecution by joining the Wicca   
   cult.  It is no different from someone converts to Judaism just so he   
   can claim that "his" people were victims of Nazi genocide.  It is not   
   the tenets of the religious sect that matter, it is the perception   
   that the religious sect is persecuted, because the converts are   
   masochists and enjoy believing they are oppressed even if they aren't.
