   That's it? Why can autism be caused by brain damage from an infection,   
   but not brain damage from other sources (e.g. trauma)?

   Correction: Congenital rubella can *sometimes* cause autism (among other   
   things) and it was for several reasons that it is vaccinated for, those   
   'other things' not the least of them - not just autism. What's the   
   relevance of rubella and MMR to the original question about Lyme disease?
