From: prufer.public@mnet-online.de.invalid              There is a new (to me) UL making the rounds. The FOAF version I heard: A group       of little old ladies celebrate a birthday in a fancy restaurant. The       multi-course dinner was a gift; they are cheerful and enjoy themselves.       Animated       conversation and laughter, no dancing on the tables. As the leave they are       given       a letter to please open at home. This letter contains a stiff admonishment that       their behavior was unbecoming in such a fine a restaurant, and that they should       refrain from repeating their patronage, i.e. stay the hell away.              Another version I have heard was that guests had tried food off each others       plates, and had therefore been asked to stay away, also in writing, with the       letter being presented in sealed envelope with the bill.              So, I google: it is currently attached to a prominent chef (who admittedly       likes       the media spotlight, is in food shows, runs several restaurants, an ice cream       chain, and spice and food store chains). A newspaper report from 2011 has said       chef saying, "absolutely not, never". He is now offering 5000 Euros for any       such       letter. The report had stated that it had been attached to another TV chef as       well.              2011 makes it hardly fresh off the water cooler. But then ULs have generally       bee       on the decline, what with fools whipping out a smartphone and googling any- and       everything on the spot...                            Thomas Prufer              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
