   AIUI, you will be far more buoyant in 'quicksand' than in water. You   
   only sink until your weight is displaced, and wet sand is very heavy.   
      
   You can get stuck in quicksand, especially if you panic, but you can't   
   sink in it very easily.   
      
   Lightning sand, on the other hand, is entirely different.
