   Nine months after the Soccer World Championship, Germanys maternity wards are   
   fuller than usual of newborns...   
      
   The lead-up to finals was a big thing, good weather, lots of folks outside,   
   watching on huge screens specially installed din the beer gardens, and lots of   
   fun, happiness, and goodwill around.   
      
   The paper says, quoting doctors: there are often fluctuations in the number of   
   babies born, and they may be random, or not. However, Soccer Fever is a   
   plausible explanation, backed up by some of the mothers interviewed.   
      
   Other journalists tried to find sales figures of pregnancy tests, or get   
   information from health insurers, and either received no data, or got the   
   answer   
   that there was no significant trend...
