we agree on most of this so i don't feel we are arguing,

the DH did it all correctly, the diet/plan whatever i hatte to and won't say
anything beyond it being provided by a doctor. was followed to the letter, i
did walk briskly, at least for the first two weeks...

that few calories affects more than your body, it seriously screws with your
   thinking.

the metabolic rate is just my point, because of medications i took in the
past, if i don't eat uberbalanced, and very regularily my body goes into...
for want of a better word "starvation mode"

i take more than just a daily vitamin and i eat balanced, and i am losing, i
work a pretty physical job, keep house and walk a lot, about half and half,
fast and slow... my point is that even when you eat less calories than you
burn, and you are exercising there are other factors... mine adimittedly is
very unusal as many of the medications i took were in that scarey
experimintal area where they don't really know what the long term effects
   will be...

what i can tell you is that balanced for me is more meat than i care to eat,
and about thirty percent higher than most nutrition guides say, carbs are
fine but i keep them to things like brown rice and beans and fruit... i eat
loads of vegetables because i plain like them.

I am not trying to argue with your basics like i said.
