   It is easier to say who they were not.  They were not the vedic nomadic   
   cattle herders coming into s. asia from the direction of afganistan.  The   
   herders came after indus cultures had risen and fallen already.   
      
   Once the vedic herders are excluded, the most common view is they were a   
   native dravidian speaking culture.
